How to Add Music to a Google Slides Video
A comprehensive guide on adding background music, voiceovers, and sound files to your Google Slides presentations when converting them to MP4 videos.
Why Add Music to Your Slideshow Video?
A silent video can struggle to capture attention. Whether you are creating a wedding slideshow with music, a birthday slideshow, a memorial tribute video, or a classroom presentation, adding a background track makes the final MP4 video look and feel professional.
Our native Google Slides add-on makes it simple to upload audio files directly from the sidebar. You don't need a complex video editor or timeline editing experience.
Step-by-Step: Adding Music to Your Video Export
-
Prepare your Google Slides presentation.
Organize your slides, keeping text large and easy to read. High-quality images should be scaled to fit the landscape slide layout.
-
Open the Slides To Video add-on.
From the top menu in Google Slides, navigate to Extensions > Slides To Video > Create Video / GIF to launch the sidebar.
-
Choose MP4 format and slide timings.
Configure the default duration (in seconds) for each slide. Note: MP4 is required if you want audio; standard GIF files do not support audio tracks.
-
Upload your audio file.
Click the file picker under the "Background Music" section. Select an audio file (such as MP3, WAV, M4A, or AAC) from your computer. Our sidebar uploads it securely to our processing folder.
-
Render your video.
Click the Create Video button. Our backend server automatically processes the presentation, converts the slides, normalizes the audio level (targeting 70% volume by default), trims the track to the exact duration of the slideshow, and applies a smooth 1-second audio fade-out at the end.
Tips for Getting the Best Audio Results
- Audio Quality: Use high-quality MP3 or M4A files for optimal sound quality.
- Audio Trimming: If your music track is longer than the video, our server will automatically trim it. If the video is longer, the audio track will loop seamlessly.
- Voiceovers: If you want to include a voiceover, record your voice using a separate tool (such as Audacity or your phone's voice recorder), mix it with your background track, and upload the combined file.
